Lone Star Carpet Care and Restoration recommends that you vacuum your carpets thoroughly before our carpet cleaning technicians arrive. Our hot water extraction carpet cleaning, or steam cleaning, as it is commonly know by will deep clean your carpets. However, vacuuming will help remove the surface dirt and bigger particles, along with pet hair (if you have pets) and other debris that carpets commonly attract.
Do I need to vacuum? A common question we get...
“Do I need to vacuum my carpet before you do your carpet cleaning” is a question we get asked frequently. The short answer is yes. Yes, you should vacuum your carpets before we bring in the industrial strength deep cleaning machine. Our truck-mounted hot water extraction machine puts out water at 120F and it will put water and cleaning solvents deep into your carpets and will extract it easily.
When you vacuum your carpets, the spinning heads on the vacuum with knock surface dirt and debris loose and suck it up. Generally speaking, vacuuming will only get a portion of the dirt and debris, so it’s a good idea to give us a call to come out at least once a year to professionally clean your carpets. If you have pets and children, you should consider having us visit you a more frequently to ensure you have a clean environment for your kids to play on.
Additionally, if you have high traffic areas in your home with carpet, the more frequently you have them professionally cleaned, the more life you can get out of them. With high traffic carpet areas, the fibers of the carpet tend to get flattened and lay down, so by giving them a more frequent cleaning, you can raise those carpet fibers back up and help prolong them from “wanting” to lay flat from the foot traffic.
If you have carpets that are protected by Scotchgard or another fabric protectant, the deep cleaning with the hot water extraction will remove the Scotchgard, so it’s a good idea to have us re-apply the Scotchgard to help keep your carpets looking their best.
If you have any additional questions, give us a call and we are happy to answer them.
