Floor Care Tips

We care about our clients long after we've done a satisfactory job of freshening up their home. Our professionals always try to advise clients on how to avoid future mishaps. While we definitely understand that accidents are unavoidable, there are still ways of minimizing the risk of them happening. We can only help you up to a certain point – once we leave, the responsibility is all yours.

Caring For Your Carpets And Upholstery

If you want to preserve your carpets and upholstery for a long time to come, you'll have to stop thinking about maintenance in a reactionary way. There's more to keeping carpets looking and feeling good than dealing with spills once they occur.

Try to make regular maintenance a habit. Create a schedule that works for you and adhere to it. Weekly vacuuming is advisable regardless of the surfaces' specific situation – if your carpets see a lot of traffic, you might want to increase the frequency even further. Over time, dirt and grime can accumulate without you even realizing, and they can bring some serious harm to your rug or upholstery.

Sometimes, plain vacuuming won't get the job done, and you'll need to add something else to the mix. When looking to mop or scrub, be very careful about your choice of cleaning agent – for the majority of cases, a mixture of soap and water will do the trick. Any time you're considering using a heavy industrial cleaner on your carpets or upholstery is when you should probably be picking up the phone and calling us instead.

Spot Removal

If spots on fabric were easy to deal with, there would be little need for companies that specialize in their removal. The difficulty of a stain or spot depends entirely on how the staining occurred. Oil, coffee, blood – these are some of the worst materials you could drop on your fabric, although things aren't hopeless just yet.

The clock starts ticking as soon as a stain forms. The more time you take, the deeper the stain will go, and it will also dry out. It's important to remember that scrubbing the area can actually make things worse as you spread whatever spilled across more of the surface. Instead, do your best to blot the stain out – this way, you'll draw out some of the liquid instead of moving it elsewhere within the fabric.

Some also like to apply a mixture of water and vinegar to the affected area. The results are usually mixed, depending on the fabric in question and the thing that's causing the stain. If things are looking bad, the best tip we can give you is: don't wait too long before you call us.

Cleaning Floor Tiles

Tiles are a popular choice of flooring due to how easy they are to clean – mopping usually does the trick. However, the tiles and especially the grout between them are vulnerable to certain exposure that can cause permanent damage. Spills that are left unattended for too long can cause stains, as can bursts of hot temperature. Once this happens, you'll have no choice but to replace the tiles if you'd like to restore their appearance, so be swift with your cleaning and be mindful of hot spots around the tiles. Also, don't go too heavy on the chemicals, as these can end up causing damage as well.
